Artist's Comments

Simplistic, lacking finesse and style. I am well aware of the bad points of this photo. But the meaning is there, its not one I am going to be able to reshoot in the same location so I will settle for this for now.

This is one of those...

This is one of those photos that is far from "technical" masterpiece... (You ever see my snowglobe photo... my second most faved.. and it has no focusing point...) ...

But just FILLED with emotion... that we all can relate to...

You would think I'd love the empty chair... since that's what grabs you first... but what really grabs me...is that cup... that cup in hand... and that other cup sitting there... not picked up... you can tell someone was once there... once...

Wow.. I saw this & clicked right away... I totally know how you feel... and get this the heck out of scraps now... if it'll make you happy... manip the damn thing... but out of scraps!

It's so very nice to know i'm not alone... I really know what this feels like... in fact... I was just dreaming of my empty seat just a little while ago...

I'm actually really glad that what grabbed you more was the subtle than the obvious. Although many of my photos have blatant obvious imagery, I like it when people pick up on the more subtle reinforcers - it makes me feel its worth my time putting it there. The reason I do, is because emotions are so complex and indefinable I feel you have to show several facets to even begin to emcompass them.

And yes, technically this is a mess, a mis shoot that if I had been using digital I would have reshot. But I'm glad you liked it anyway and as ordered :salute: this has been moved out of my scraps.

My empty seat is always there but I am learning to cope with that instead of denying it and running away :)

Thanks for your detailed thoughts as always.

I hear ya... the best way to cope... as I've found... is to embrace it... bring it into your art... at the very least... at then it will be worth something...

It really is a beautiful piece... and conveys so very much...

Excellent work my friend... I really do love it. =)

technically, well, you already know it's not great.

i still miss the two best friends that i had when i was growing up. Dave moved interstate, and Sue died, but i think about them most days.

I love the message of the picture...

The empty seat speaks volumes...

What a wistful stare... alot of emotion went into this...

Excellent concept...

DeadTulips summed it up perfectly.

I can feel the "cold" feeling of being abandoned and alone....

Please comment if you :+fav:. I want to know what you like about the deviation. :)

Once more, with the feeling... Is really amazing how this picture effects on me, the message is much much stronger than the picture itself. Colours are great, especially strong red seat. Bravo.

I love you for this... not that I didn't love you before or anything thing.
